An Announcement From The Tucson Delta Chi Alumni Board
As you are all aware, the status of Delta Chi at the University of Arizona has been of question for some time. This is true of both having an active chapter on campus as well as with our actual house (1701 E. First Street).
Thanks to the efforts of interested alumni, we are proud to announce that a new Board of Directors has been formed to take over management of the house, as well as to assist in bringing Delta Chi back to the University of Arizona.
The Tucson Delta Chi Alumni Board (TDCAB) was first established in 1959 to hold title to the property that has long been home to Delta Chi, and manage it in the best interest of the Arizona Chapter of Delta Chi.
The new Board consists of:
President: Justin Brown justinjbrown72@gmail.com
Vice President: Terry Scali tmscali@aol.com
Secretary: Jason Wawro jwawro@mac.com
Treasurer: Chad Becker chadb@outlook.com
Director: Grady Hicks grady@hicksco.net
A great deal of effort has been made to solidify everything that needs to be in place in terms of the house, and we are very pleased with that progress. Here is quick overview of what we have accomplished to date.
• We have come current on the property taxes.
• We have regained good standing with the Arizona Corporation Commission.
• We are in process to regain our 501c2 charitable status.
While there are a few things that still need to be finalized, we expect everything will be completed in the near future.
Although our primary efforts have been devoted to assuring that the house will stay in our collective hands for a long time, we have also been in discussions with both the University of Arizona and the International Headquarters of Delta Chi about returning to campus. That process is underway, and we have committed our support to the effort.
One thing has become abundantly clear- we as a local chapter must commit ourselves collectively to contributing to the well being of our chapter. Whether we have an active chapter or not, we as alumni can do a far better job of connecting, networking, and hopefully in the near future working with young Delta Chis who are part of an active chapter.
Our ask for now is simple, please provide your contact information and ask other Delta Chis to do the same.
As we move forward we will need as much help as we can get, and we look forward to a great future for Delta Chi at the University of Arizona.
