Statement from the President of the Tucson Delta Chi Alumni Board - March 19, 2025
As the President of the Tucson Delta Chi Alumni Board, I want to acknowledge the recent verdict in the case of Michael Woolbright. On March 18, 2025, Mr. Woolbright was found guilty on all counts, including multiple charges of Fraudulent Schemes and Theft, related to his misappropriation of funds from our organization over several years.
This is not a happy occasion for anyone. While this verdict brings a sense of accountability and justice, it is not something to be celebrated. Mr. Woolbright’s actions nearly destroyed our fraternity entirely. The trust placed in him was deeply violated, and the impact of his misconduct has been felt across our alumni and active members alike.
We appreciate the diligent efforts of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office in bringing this case to justice. I also want to recognize the tireless efforts of my fellow board members who without which none of this would have happened, and the broad support we’ve received from our alumni. Your commitment to upholding our values has been instrumental in seeing this case through. The fact that we will soon gather to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our founding at the University of Arizona with an active chapter in place is nothing short of miraculous.
As we move forward, our focus remains on strengthening the integrity and future of our organization. We are committed to reinforcing financial safeguards and ensuring that this kind of betrayal can never happen again. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 28, 2025, and we will continue to advocate for appropriate restitution and justice for the damage done.
Delta Chi stands for justice, character, and brotherhood. While this case is a reminder of the importance of accountability, it is also an opportunity for us to reaffirm our commitment to these values and emerge stronger as a fraternity.
ITB,
Justin Brown
President, Tucson Delta Chi Alumni Board
